Bawang Merah & Bawang Putih (in English)

The story takes place in a simple village household. The head of this family has two wives, and each wife has their own daughter. Bawang Merah and her mother are jealous of the attention the father gives Bawang Putih and her mother. When the father dies, Bawang Merah and her mother take charge of the household and bully Bawang Putih into servitude. One day, while Bawang Putih’s mother washing the family's laundry in the river, Bawang Merah's mother pushed her into the water and died. With her real mother and father dead, the gentle and obedient Bawang Putih is left alone to be tortured by her cruel stepmother and half-sister.

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih had opposite characters and personalities. Bawang Putih was diligent, kind, honest and humble girl. Meanwhile, Bawang Merah was lazy, glamorous, proud and envious girl. Bawang Merah's bad personality was worsened because her mother spoiled her. The widow always gave her everything she wanted. It was Bawang Putih who did all the works in the house. Doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning, essentially all works were carried out by herself. Meanwhile, Bawang Merah and the widow just spent times making themselves up, because when they needed something they could just ask Bawang Putih.

One day…

BM      : Hey you! Prepare me warm water for a bath… My skin is must get warm temperature to be soft.
BP       : OK, my sister. I’ll do it (She boils a pail of water, then pour it into the bathub).
BM      : Faster!
BP       : Be more patient… (she finishes it, and get out of the bathroom).
BM      : Can you do all of things quickly? You are not adroit at all (get in into the bathroom).
BP       : My goodness… why is she always hate me?
BM      : (roaming) Ouch!! (out from the bathroom and throw down the door).
BP       : (surprised) What happened?
BM      : Hey! Where did you place your head, huh?
BP       : Am I did something wrong?
BM      : Yes, actually all that you have done is wrong!
BP       : I’m sorry…(bow)
BM      : Now you tring to burn my skin!
BP       : No..! That’s not.
BM      : You are jealous don’t you?
BP       : I’m not. I just didn’t realize the water is that hot. Are you okay? (she looks at Bawang Merah’s hand)
BM      : Don’t touch it! (avoid)
BP       : That’s okay. I’ll see it, it will not hurt you… (reach for BM’s hand)
BM      : I said don’t touch me! Impudent kid! (BM slaps BP’s face)
BP       : Sis… (she is trying to control her mind) I want to save you. But you slapped me?
BM      : Enough! Cause of your doing, I’m tired. Go wash my clothes in the river! If you dare to make me dissapointed one more time, I’ll tell all of your fault to mom.
BP       : Please, don’t do that…
BM      : Then, go now!
BP       : She is quite hate me. God, can you make my sister like me a bit?

Bawang Putih goes to the river. Washing her sister’s clothes. Suddenly, there’s a fish approach to her. The fish is able to speak, and tells her that it is her mother who has came back to comfort her. Bawang is was overjoyed to be able to speak with her mother again, and secretly visits the pond whenever she can.

One day Bawang Merah sees Bawang Putih sneaking off and secretly follows her to the pond, where she witnesses Bawang Putih talking to the fish. After Bawang Putih leaves, Bawang Merah catches it. Then Bawang Merah kills the fish, cook it and feed it to Bawang Putih without telling her where it came from. BM likes it & enjoy eating the fish..

Know that BP is so sad, then she said to BM,”Do you know who is that fish?”. “I don`t know who is it, who actually is it?”, asked BM. BP anwered,”It`s my beloved mother, now I losed her twice.. Ihiks…ihiks…”.

BP`s crying. Know that BM feells so sorry then said,”Pardon me my sister, I didn`t mean to do that..”. BP gives sorry to BM. Then, Bawang Putih gathers the fish bones and bury them in a small grave underneath a tree.

When she visits the grave the next day, she is surprised to see that a beautiful swing has appeared from one of the tree's branches. When she sits in the swing and sings an old lullaby & she sings everyday at the swing. One day, while she was is on the magic swing, a Prince who is hunting nearby hears her song. The Prince is overjoyed and asks Bawang Putih to marry him. She agrees. Then, She lives with the prince happily ever after in the castle.

Akankah Menyebut "Nakal" Lagi Pada Anak Kita?

“Anak saya ini nakal sekali”, kata seorang ibu.
“Kamu itu memang anak nakal”, kata seorang bapak.

Kalimat itu sering kita dengarkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Sangat sering kita mendengar orang tua menyebut anaknya dengan istilah nakal, padahal kadang maksudnya sekadar mengingatkan anak agar tidak nakal. Namun apabila anak konsisten mendapatkan sebutan nakal, akan berpengaruh pada dirinya.

Predikat-predikat buruk memang cenderung memiliki dampak yang buruk pula. Nakal adalah predikat yang tak diinginkan oleh orang tua, bahkan oleh si anak sendiri. Namun, seringkali lingkungan telah memberikan predikat itu kepada si anak: kamu anak nakal, kamu anak kurang ajar, kamu anak susah diatur, dan sebagainya. Akibatnya, si anak merasa divonis.

Hindari Sebutan Nakal

Jika tuduhan nakal itu diberikan berulang-ulang oleh banyak orang, akan menjadikan anak yakin bahwa ia memang nakal. Bagaimanapun nakalnya si anak, pada mulanya tuduhan itu tidak menyenangkan bagi dirinya. Apalagi, jika sudah sampai menjadi bahan tertawaan, cemoohan, dan ejekan, akan sangat menggores relung hatinya yang paling dalam. Hatinya luka. Ia akan berusaha melawan tuduhan itu, namun justru dengan tindak kenakalannya yang lebih lanjut.

Hendaknya orang tua menyadari bahwa mengingatkan kesalahan anak tidak identik dengan memberikan predikat “nakal” kepadanya. Nakal itu —di telinga siapa pun yang masih waras— senantiasa berkesan negatif. Siapa tahu, anak menjadi nakal justru lantaran diberi predikat “nakal” oleh orang tua atau lingkungannya!

Kebersamaan

Mengingatkan kesalahan anak hendaknya dengan bijak dan kasih sayang. Bagaimanapun, mereka masih kecil. Sangat mungkin melaku­kan kesalahan karena ketidaktahuan, atau karena sebab-sebab yang lain. Namun, apa pun bentuk kenakalan anak, biasanya ada penyebab yang bisa dilacak sebagai sebuah bahan evaluasi diri bagi para pendidik dan orang tua.

Banyak kisah tentang anak-anak kecil yang cacat atau meninggal di tangan orang tuanya sendiri. Cara-cara kekerasan yang dipakai untuk menanggulangi kenakalan anak seringkali tidak tepat. Watak anak sebenarnya lemah dan bahkan lembut. Mereka tak suka pada kekerasan. Jika disuruh memilih antara punya bapak yang galak atau yang penyabar lagi penyayang, tentu mereka akan memilih tipe kedua. Artinya, hendaknya orang tua berpikiran “tua” dalam mendidik anak-anaknya, agar tidak salah dalam mengambil langkah.

Sekali lagi, jangan cepat memberi predikat negatif. Hal itu akan membawa dampak psikologis yang traumatik bagi anak. Belum tentu anak yang sulit diatur itu nakal, bisa jadi justru itulah tanda-tanda kecerdasan dan kelebihannya dibandingkan anak lain. Hanya saja, orang tua biasanya tidak sabar dengan kondisi ini.

Ungkapan bijak Dorothy Law Nolte dalam syair Children Learn What They Live berikut bisa dijadikan sebagai bahan perenungan,

Bila anak sering dikritik, ia belajar mengumpat

Bila anak sering dikasari, ia belajar berkelahi

Bila anak sering diejek, ia belajar menjadi pemalu

Bila anak sering dipermalukan, ia belajar merasa bersalah

Bila anak sering dimaklumi, ia belajar menjadi sabar

Bila anak sering disemangati, ia belajar menghargai

Bila anak mendapatkan haknya, ia belajar bertindak adil

Bila anak merasa aman, ia belajar percaya

Bila anak mendapat pengakuan, ia belajar menyukai dirinya

Bila anak diterima dan diakrabi, ia akan menemukan cinta.

Cara Pandang Positif

Hendaknya orang tua selalu memiliki cara pandang positif terhadap anak. Jika anak sulit diatur, maka ia berpikir bahwa anaknya kelebihan energi potensial yang belum tersalurkan. Maka orang tua berusaha untuk memberikan saluran bagi energi potensial anaknya yang melimpah ruah itu, dengan berbagai kegiatan yang positif. Selama ini anaknya belum mendapatkan alternatif kegiatan yang memadai untuk menyalurkan berbagai potensinya.

Dengan cara pandang positif seperti itu, orang tua tidak akan emosional dalam menghadapi ketidaktertiban anak. Orang tua akan cenderung introspeksi dalam dirinya, bukan sekadar menyalahkan anak dan memberikan klaim negatif seperti kata nakal. Orang tua akan lebih lembut dalam berinteraksi dengan anak-anak, dan berusaha untuk mencari jalan keluar terbaik. Bukan dengan kemarahan, bukan dengan kata-kata kasar, bukan dengan pemberian predikat nakal.

“Kamu anak baik dan shalih. Tolong lebih mendengar pesan ibu ya Nak”, ungkapan ini sangat indah dan positif.

“Bapak bangga punya anak kamu. Banyak potensi kamu miliki. Jangan ulangi lagi perbuatanmu ini ya Nak”, ungkap seorang bapak ketika ketahuan anaknya bolos sekolah.

Semoga kita mampu menjadi orang tua yang bijak dalam membimbing, mendidik dan mengarahkan tumbuh kembang anak-anak kita. Hentikan sebutan nakal untuk mendidik anak-anak.

Outing Class Social_Citizenship

Setelah beberapa saat kegiatan belajar berada di dalam kelas, maka Outing Class adalah kegiatan keluar yang paling disukai dan diminati anak-anak SDII AL-ABIDIN Surakarta. Di pagi yang cerah anak-anak level 6 (Ammar, Salman, Aisyah, & Hafshah) menuju Taman Bale Kambang, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar untuk mengikuti Outing Class Social Pkn. Di sana anak-anak diberi tugas berkelompok menggambar negara-negara Asia Tenggara dengan dilengkapi kenampakan darat. Setelah itu dimasukkan kedalam album sehingga menjadi hasil karya anak yang sangat menarik.

Si Kancil Vs Alligator; to help Buffalo

One day in the jungle, There was a alligator that busy basking in the river… When he was enjoy his rest, suddenly heard a voice, “Kreeek…. Gdubrak…!!!!” Somehow, he felt pain on his back, & he felt hard to breath. When the alligator opened his eye turned out to be a big old tree and hit his back. The alligator screamed,”Help…Help me… Help me….!!!!”. Not far from that place, a buffalo was enjoying his lunch. The buffalo heared the alligator`s scream and tried to find where the voice came from. He got an alligator seen in pain because there was a big old tree on his back. The buffalo felt so sorry looked at that. Without thinking, he removed the tree trunk with the strong horns, so that the alligator freed.

But what happens next????... The alligator instead thanked but he just bited the foot buffalo. Then the buffalo said, “After I had crushed, I feel so hungry… He…He… And you can be my delicious food… Nyammm…Nyammm…Nyammm..”

The buffalo was surprised heared that, he was so scared, he protested, and said, “You…!!! The alligator, why you don`t say thanks to me because I have helped you, is this how you repay the favor?”

The alligator replied,”Haaa…Haaa… Haaa… Who told you to help me… How pithy you are…???!!!”. The buffalo was so scared heard that, “Wwww wait up…wait up please…!!, how about we ask the three creatures that pass, if they say you can eat me, I sincerely you eat”. “Mmmmmm… That`s good idea I like it”, answered the alligator. (Though in his deep heart he said I will eat you anything happened later)

The first creature washed up by the river was a toy plane with a broken wing. The buffalo was told his fate and asked,”What do you think, may the alligator eat me??”. The toy said,”Huuhhh… If the owner of me hasn`t throwed me after my wings broken, surely I`ll defend you buffalo… But in fact, he doesn`t care about me anymore, just because my wings were broken, his heart to throw me into the river”. The buffalo began to fell pessimistic about the fate.

The second creature washed up by the river was a bike with three wheels that the front wheel bent… He struggled with passing. The buffalo was told his fate and asked,”What do you think, may the alligator eat me??”. The bike said,” Huuhhh… If the owner of me hasn`t crashed into the tree such as this certainly was not my destiny… and the painful one, he throwed me after my condition like this, So that accept your fate buffalo”,  the buffalo getting desperate.

Know that the alligator screamed, “That`s enough buffalo, I`m so hungry”. The buffalo was so panic heard that, then said, “Wai…wai..wait up. Please wait the last one who pass here”.

The next  creature is Si Kancil. As we know Si Kancil is a mouse deer. Then, the buffalo was told his fate as he had told to the toy and the bike.  He asked,”What do you think, may the alligator eat me??”.

Si Kancil with a silly face said,”Sorry, I`m very stupid… I don`t understand what you`re talking about, can you repeat again???!!!”. The buffalo retold again about his fate, then asked again,” What do you think, may the alligator eat me??”

Si Kancil back said with a silly face again,”Sorry, I`m very stupid… I don`t understand what you`re asking to me, can you repeat again???!!!”. The buffalo retold again about his fate, then asked again,”What do you think, may the alligator eat me??”

Si Kancil back said with a silly face again, in this time with more,more, and silly face,”Haaaduuhh…,How really stupid I`m, I still don`t understand what you`re telling to me… Could you repeat again from the first…!!!??”, asked Si Kancil. The buffalo heard that he was so angry, then said,”Huuhh.. The fool deer… I don`t know how to make you understand…”.

Si Kancil answered, “Ooooo as I know My parent taught me to practice more often directly. With practice I`m sure I can understand.. If you don`t mind, please repeat and practice what actually happened from the beginning”.

The buffalo was very angry and very hungry became impatient,”Here, I`ll practice what have happened from the beginning, if you still don`t understand I`ll eat you too Kancil…!!!”. Because the buffalo wanted to practice what actually happened from the beginning, he let go of the bite out of Buffalo foot. Then he retold to Si Kancil, “In the afternoon, when I was sunbathing on the riverbank,… Suddenly I heard a voice “Kreeeeekk… Gdubrakkkkk…!!! When I opened my eye turned out to be a big old tree fall and hit my back…”.

“Can you show to me what like that tree falled on your back? I`m still don`t understand with your story”, asked Si Kancil to the buffalo. “Aaaaaahhhh….!!!! The fool deer…!!!”, said the alligator with annoyance and angry face. “Buffalo, take that big tree then place it on my back… Hurry up…!!!”, commanded the alligator.

The buffalo obeyed with fear, he returned the big tree on the alligator`s back as he seen first. “That tree hit my back like this The fool deer…!!!, Have you understood?” asked the alligator to Si Kancil. A few moments later, the alligator screamed,”Hee…!!! Qickly, put it out of my back… It`s so painful…!!! And I`m hungry, I want to eat the buffalo immediately…!!!”, said the alligator with annoyance and angry face.

Looked that event, ”Eeee… I do understand now…”, Si Kancil said with smile up. Then Si Kancil asked The buffalo to leave that place, “Buffalo… Lets get out of here..!!”.

Heard screamed and cried the alligator, Si Kancil didn`t care. Si Kancil said to the buffalo,”Ok,.. Let him feel that…!!!”

OK, it`s my story. From this story we can get some lessons; The 1<sup>st</sup> one is if we feel strong & have high power don`t be arogant. The 2^nd one is as a student we must be clever student so that we are not able lied others. The 3^rd one is what we plant that we will get it so, plants the good characters to others they will love us.
